Did you know your skull is open until you become an adult ?

Fontanelles are soft spots on a baby's head which, during birth, enable the bony plates of the skull to flex, allowing the child's head to pass through the birth canal. The sphenoidal and posterior fontanelles close during the first few months after birth. Sphenoidal and posterior fontanelles are found just above the ear and behind the ear representatively .
The ossification of the bones of the skull causes the anterior fontanelle to close over by 9 to 18 months.
The term "fontanelle" is used to describe the resulting "soft spots". The relative positions of the bones continue to change during the life of the adult (though less rapidly), which can provide useful information inforensics and archaeology. In old age, cranial sutures may ossify (turn to bone) completely .
The fusion of skull's bone at birth is known as Craniosynostosis . This is the amazing fact of your skull. This process is also seen in other animals like dogs and chimpanzee .
